Shield Compute was not dreamed up in a boardroom; it was born from direct operational frustration in Canada’s regulated enterprise sector. While scaling Enginehire—a bootstrapped healthcare staffing platform to more than $2.5M CAD in ARR—our founder saw Canadian clients forced into an impossible choice: accept US CLOUD Act exposure from foreign cloud providers, or settle for legacy domestic hosting without modern developer tools, scalable AI compute, or competitive pricing.
The need was clear: a modern cloud provider, built from the ground up for Canadian law, Canadian energy, and Canadian security.
